How To: Prusik Knot with Carabiner

I teach the Prusik around a carabiner – it’s part of a technique I use to hang gymnastics straps from 15+ feet with ease. The knot is still the exact same without the carabiner. You just tie it around a piece of rope or webbing instead of BOTH the webbing and the carabiner.

Step 1: Lay the loop underneath the webbing and carabiner

Step 2: Thread the loop through the carabiner

Step 3: Take the right end of the loop, pass it over the carabiner and through the left end of the loop. This is also known as a Girth Hitch.

Step 4: Take the end of the loop on the right and wrap it underneath the webbing and UP through the carabiner.

Step 5: Pass the right end of the loop over the carabiner and through the left end of the loop once again.

Step 6: Pull the knot tight and make sure it looks clean like in the photo.
